It’s May and if you live in Portland you probably know that Portland’s farmers markets are about to open. Portland’s open-air markets happen throughout the week all over the city and offer up a variety of food from fresh local and seasonal produce (cherries anyone?) from small farms to Oregon grown honey. You can also find plant starts of every variety and an amazing selection of snacks to eat while you shop. Most of Portland’s farmer’s markets are open between May and June through November. If you’re looking to get to know Portland’s local food scene, you can check out any of these markets. They each have their own flavor and neighborhood vibe. The largest and most foodie is the Portland State University Farmers Market on PSU’s campus which is open all year round. It gets busy. Prepare to move slowly after 11:00 am. but to try some amazing food!
